# People: credits and licences

The pedestrians, the player and everyone else in the crowd are built from **MakeHuman** assets, all released as
**CC0** (public domain): free for any use, commercial included, no attribution required. Credited here anyway.

| What | Source | Licence |
|---|---|---|
| Base body, the low-poly proxies `male1591` / `female1605`, the 20 photo skins (young / middle-aged / old x caucasian / asian / african, men and women), eyes, eyebrows, the hair styles `short01-04`, `bob02`, `long01`, `ponytail01`, shoes `shoes06` | [MakeHuman system assets](https://static.makehumancommunity.org/assets/assetpacks/makehuman_system_assets.html) (`makehuman_system_assets_cc0.zip`) | [CC0](https://static.makehumancommunity.org/about/license.html) |
| The tool that assembles them in Blender (build time only, not shipped) | [MPFB 2](https://extensions.blender.org/add-ons/mpfb/) 2.0.17 | GPL-3.0 (the tool); its output and the assets are CC0 ([FAQ](https://static.makehumancommunity.org/mpfb/faq/use_in_closed_source.html)) |

**How they're made for the game** (`tools/mh_stage1.py`, then `tools/make_human.py`, which uses them by default):
- each body is moved from MakeHuman's skeleton onto the game's (same joints, same 60+ animation clips) and its
  weights are summed onto the game's 17 bones;
- the eyebrows are painted into each skin, and the eye texture sits in a free corner of the skin layout, so a
  person is still one draw call;
- the skins are the JPEGs in this folder (`mh_people.json` lists them); the game picks one per person by their
  background and age and tints it to their skin colour (`src/assets.js` pickSkin);
- the outfits are the game's own (`src/clothes.js`), painted over the bodies; the hair is tinted per person.

**Rebuilding** needs MPFB and the asset pack in a private Blender user folder next to the game
(`../makehuman/blender_user`, so your own Blender settings are untouched):

    set BLENDER_USER_RESOURCES=C:/Users/sohso/Desktop/ClaudeCode/makehuman/blender_user
    blender -b -P tools/mh_stage1.py
    (unset BLENDER_USER_RESOURCES)  blender -b --factory-startup -P tools/make_human.py

`make_human.py --v1` builds the old procedural bodies instead.
